Ndabezinhle Phiri primed to extend undefeated streak against Jackson Chauke

Undefeated Ndabezinhle ‘Pressure Cooker’ Phiri intends to keep his record clean when he meets veteran Jackson Chauke in the ring for the vacant WBC Africa flyweight title on Sunday, 16 November.

The Zimbabwean punisher has defeated all the South African boxers placed before him until now.

However, on Sunday he is set to come up against what he has described as a highly-motivated Chauke.

“Every guy that I fight is coming to fight, and Jackson Chauke is no different. Just like me, he is not expecting to lose," said Phiri.

“I just want to be undefeated for the rest of my life, and that belief gives me the motivation to work hard every day and train harder than all of my opponents.”

Many fans believe this is a make-or-break fight for the 40-year-old Chauke, whereas Phiri is still fresh into his career, but is fully aware that his opponent is a dangerous man.

“I’m ready for Jackson, and I’ve prepared very hard for our fight because I know he is one of the best around," he added.

"He has more experience than me, and the boxers in this country are afraid of him, so beating him will show how far I’ve come.”

Phiri’s teammate at Brian Mitchell Boxing Academy, Ricardo Malajika, has experience of not only sharing the ring with Chauke but also defeated him before.

Asked if Maljika has given him any tips to win this fight, ‘Pressure Cooker’ insists he will walk his own path.

“I don’t believe in taking other things from other people because we all fight differently. As boxers, we strive to improve after every fight, so if I focus on what happened in past fights, I will not get it right.

“I do have a method to beat Jackson Chauke. His camp is expecting one man, but I’m going to introduce them to a man they don’t know," he concluded.

The undefeated artist has urged supporters to come and attend what should be a blockbuster main event in Fourways on Sunday.
