Cape Town City down TS Galaxy, while Sekhukhune beat Swallows

Cape Town City FC beat TS Galaxy 1-0, while Sekhukhune United were deserved 1-0 winners against Swallows FC.

Cape Town City beat TS Galaxy 1-0 at Cape Town Stadium in their league encounter with the winning goal coming late in the game via Taariq Fielies to hand his side the three points.

City did have more ball possession with more goal attempts and overall, probably deserved the victory.

The result sees City jumped above Orlando Pirates in sixth place on the log, while Galaxy remains in 11th spot.

The home side took the game to The Rockets early on as Juan Camilo Zapata nearly gave them the lead with a free header that flew past the post. And shortly afterwards Bertrand Junior's (CT City) header from the centre of the box was close going past the right post after three minutes.

Sead Ramovic's side did well to defend against City but when they did attack, they were not a threat to goalkeeper Darren Keet.

After the half-time break, Xola Mlambo almost broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 55th minute with a glancing header at the near post that sailed slightly over the crossbar from a set-piece.

in the 65th minute, City nearly took the lead when Lyle Lakay's long-range shot hit the crossbar.

Late in the game City threw everything in to attack and were rewarded in the 88th minute when Taariq Fielies eventually fired home with a shot from a rebound to make it 1-0.

Sekhukhune United 1-0 Swallows FC

Sekhukhune United beat Swallows FC 1-0 in their DStv Premiership encounter with the only goal being scored by Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya at Peter Mokaba Stadium.

The result lifts United to fourth spot on the table above Kaizer Chiefs on goal-difference while Swallows sit in 14th place.

In the 14th minute, Sekhukhune nearly scored when Tlotlo Leepile had a shot on goal from a tight angle on the right only to be denied with a save in the top corner by goalkeeper Thakasani Mbanjwa.

Swallows had the momentum towards the half-time break when Chibuike Ohizu tried a shot from close by missed by inches.

The second half started off scrappy but in the 62nd minute that all changed when United scored. Ntiya-Ntiya hammered a screamer from outside the box that flew into the top corner to hand his side the 1-0 lead.

With 20 minutes to go Swallows woke up as Junaid Sait forced a great save out of keeper Badra Ali Sangare with a shot towards the top corner.

Waseem Isaacs came the closest to grabbing the equaliser for Swallows in stoppage time with a header that hit the post.

The match ended 1-0 in favour of Sekhukhune United.
