Betway Premiership: AmaZulu, Sekhukhune, Stellenbosch claim maximum points

AmaZulu moved level with second-placed Orlando Pirates after claiming a 1-0 away win over Polokwane City on Saturday night.

Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya's third-minute header proved decisive, with the forward meeting Nkosikhona Radebe's delivery from a set-piece. Usuthu absorbed sustained pressure after the interval, defending resolutely as Polokwane searched for a way through.

Tidimalo Molokwane struck the post shortly before half-time, but the hosts could not capitalise on their opportunities. The victory marked AmaZulu's third successive Betway Premiership triumph.

Sekhukhune United snatched a dramatic 3-2 victory over Richards Bay at the Princess Magogo Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take maximum points in the Betway Premiership.

Babina Noko appeared in control after goals from Tshepo Mokoane and Ndongani Gilbani put them two ahead.

However, Nqaba Xulu struck twice to bring Richards Bay level, completing his brace in the 86th minute. Sekhukhune responded late, with Ngoanamello Rammala firing into the top corner three minutes later to secure the win.

Stellenbosch moved up to seventh in the Betway Premiership after edging Kruger United 1-0 at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday evening.

Keanan Johanessen settled the tightly fought contest in the 27th minute, pouncing after a poor clearance before firing beyond Marcel Dandjinou for his first senior professional goal.

Kruger pushed for parity despite Katlego Mohamme's 77th-minute dismissal, but goalkeeper Sage Stephens produced crucial saves to preserve Stellenbosch's advantage. The victory gives Stellenbosch nine points from seven matches, while Kruger remain 13th with four points.
