Proteas paceman Anrich Nortje ruled out of second Test against West Indies

Proteas fast bowler Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of second Test against West Indies starting at the Wanderers on Wednesday due to "mild groin discomfort".

The home side have opted not to name a replacement ahead of the final Test of the series which leaves Kagiso Rabada, Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen as the only specialist pacemen in the squad.

Nortje was pivotal in the 87-run victory over the Windies in the first Test in Centurion, claiming a five-wicket haul in the first innings.

Seaming all-rounder Wiaan Mulder could come into the starting XI to bolster the pace bowling stocks while Ryan Rickelton will come into contention should the Proteas want to play an extra batter.

The pitch at the Wanderers has taken plenty of spin this South African summer which could mean slow-bowlers Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer brought into the fray.

Meanwhile, bowling coach Charl Langeveldt has been released from national duty due to family reasons bringing an end to his tenure with the Proteas.

Piet Botha was already named as the new Proteas bowling coach and will start his role after the current series against the Carribean outfit.
