PC went down to two-time champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape by 48 runs last night, while they suffered a 22-run defeat to cross-Juksei rivals Joburg Super Kings to open their campaign.
Up next on their schedule is last year’s winners MI Cape Town tomorrow, and Mashimbyi says they can secure victory there to jump-start their season.
"Losing two games in a row is not nice, but I still think there's time to really recover. We need to regroup and make sure that in Cape Town we get our first win, and then you just never know what the competition may give you after that."
Mashimbyi says they did not have the start they would have wanted with the ball, and perhaps let the game run away from them at times.
Although he believes they did manage to reduce SEC’s run rate later in the innings, the home team still put up a 188 total for them to chase.
Pretoria Capitals have scored less than 150 in both their opening matches so far, with none of their batters reaching 50 runs.
Mashimbyi admitted that they just haven’t found their rhythm in that department, and says partnerships are key if they’re going to get things right.
"Something is just missing in our batting, and I hope that we will find it in the next few games, because we do have power and we also have players that can bat for a while. Partnerships are key - once you have two settled batters at the crease, it becomes easier to score."
