Wydad Casablanca end Mamelodi Sundowns' Champions League run

Mamelodi Sundowns were knocked out of the CAF Champions League at the semi-final stage after a 2-2 draw with Wydad Casablanca at Loftus.

Wydad secured their spot in the final with a 2-2 aggregate scoreline, relying on their away goals advantage to progress after a goalless draw in the first leg.

Sundowns started strongly, but Wydad showcased their threat on the counter.

Both teams had opportunities, with impressive saves from the goalkeepers keeping the scoreline level.

Sundowns broke the deadlock in the second half with a goal from Themba Zwane.

However, Wydad swiftly responded with Ayoub El Amloud heading in a cross from Yahya Jabrane.

Sundowns regained the lead through a deflected goal from Peter Shalulile, but Wydad equalised once again when Mothobi Mvala inadvertently scored an own goal from a Wydad set piece.

With no further goals, Wydad held on to secure their place in the final against Al Ahly in a two-legged clash scheduled for June 4 and 11.
