The French centre-back, 24, had entered the final two years of his previous deal, with Real Madrid reportedly monitoring his situation. But Arsenal confirmed on Tuesday that Saliba has committed his future to the club on a contract believed to run for more than five years.
Saliba has been central to Mikel Arteta's project, forming a commanding partnership with Gabriel at the heart of defence. That pairing has been vital to Arsenal's rise in recent seasons, with the Gunners pushing to challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title and aiming to make a strong impact in the Champions League this campaign.
Saliba first signed for Arsenal in 2019 but had to wait until 2022 to make his debut. Since then, he has established himself as one of the Premier League's most reliable defenders, playing every league game in the 2023/24 season when Arsenal finished runners-up to City.
Reflecting on his decision, Saliba said: "I feel proud of myself because I first signed in 2019, and now in 2025, I'm still here to extend my contract. I'm so happy. I feel at home. We have a good team, good staff, and the coach is perfect for me, so it's the best place to be.
"I enjoy every day when I wear this shirt. I try to give everything, and now I'll give even more to this club and the fans."
Arteta praised his defender's commitment, saying: "William is loved by all the players and staff, and that speaks volumes about his character, commitment and attitude every day. Since joining us, he has grown so much, embraced responsibility, and created a strong connection with our supporters.
"We know there is still so much to come from him, and we will continue to work together with the clear ambition of winning major trophies."
The Gunners are also working to secure new terms for Bukayo Saka, who, like Saliba, has entered the final two years of his current deal.
