UEFA fines Aston Villa for delayed financial reporting

Aston Villa have received a financial penalty from UEFA due to the late submission of required financial documentation.

The club, who will play in this season's Champions League, were fined 60,000 euros by UEFA's Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) over the late submission.

French side Marseille were fined 20,000 euros for the same offence, UEFA said.

Last season marked the first time UEFA's new financial sustainability regulations (FSR) came into effect, under which squad costs could not exceed 90 per cent of revenue.

UEFA confirmed no club in its competitions had gone beyond the 90 per cent limit. For the current season the ratio drops to 80 per cent, and will then be 70 per cent thereafter.
