TS Galaxy sense opportunity against rotated Mamelodi Sundowns

TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic says his side are ready to capitalise on Mamelodi Sundowns’ enforced rotation in their Nedbank Cup last 16 encounter on Saturday afternoon.

The Rockets welcome The Brazilians to KwaMhlanga as the fresher of the two teams, with Sundowns coming off a demanding schedule that included a CAF Champions League clash against MC Alger and a high-intensity Betway Premiership trip to log leaders Orlando Pirates.

Although Sundowns emerged victorious in both matches, Beganovic believes the physical and mental toll of such a congested run could work in Galaxy’s favour.

"It can be an advantage to us because, in a short space of time, they played two games and used a lot of energy. Many players complained about cramping and fatigue. Even against Orlando Pirates, I saw about five players asking to be substituted because they could not finish the game," said Beganovic

Beganovic suggested he may also set up Galaxy differently to avoid being outclassed by a Sundowns team that is in-form at the moment.

Galaxy have already lost to Sundowns once this season in the league five months ago and Beganovic says they’ve picked up lessons from that encounter.

A win over Sundowns will edge the 2019 Nedbank Cup champions closer to their target to repeat a feat achieved when they were still a lower division outfit.

Beganovic is adamant there is belief.

"I know it will be a tough game, but also it will be a game where we have a chance to do something. I want to try everything to get a positive result and, if possible for us reach the next round because I think TS Galaxy also play beautiful football."
