TS Galaxy coach targeting the cup that got away

TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic is relishing the opportunity to try and claim the Carling Knockout trophy that eluded the club two seasons ago.

The Rockets marched all the way to the final of the inaugural edition in 2023, when they came unstuck in a penalty shootout against Stellenbosch FC – under then-coach Sead Ramovic.

However, having tasted the failure as assistant coach, Beganovic now seeks to make amends and add the title to the club's trophy cabinet.

"If you ask me did I want to win this cup, yes obviously yes, we wanted to beat Orbit College and go to the next round and then I want the trophy. I especially know how it feels playing a final and how to be so close to take the trophy,” Beganovic said.

“We had a good result in the final, we were leading 1-0 and then we lost on the penalties and it was so painful, we needed months to forget that. I think this season we are ready to push more and then to win this trophy."

This opening round fixture is another rematch of an earlier league encounter, which saw Galaxy wallop the newly-promoted Orbit College 3-1 at Dobsonville Stadium a month ago.

The Bosnian tactician, however, believes they will need to bring some sort of element of surprise this time around to overcome the North West outfit in their own back yard.

"It could be extra tough because we already played one game and then now we know each other much better and then Orbit College probably knows what to expect from us,” the coach added.

“Also, we want to change some players, we want to change some structure and try to do something else, to add something to surprise. Especially because we are playing away, Orbit College will be playing on that pitch for the third time but it can be a little bit easier for Orbit college but I say we don't go there to say, we came here to lose the game, no.

“It's the opposite, we go there to try to put everything that we have to win that game and then to go to the next round because we want the trophy."
