Dzvukamanja confirms desire for new Pirates deal

Orlando Pirates striker Terrence Dzvukamanja has confirmed his desire to sign a new deal with the Soweto giants.

This week, agent Mike Makaab informed SABC Sport he will shortly begin talks with the Buccaneers to extend the player's contract, which was slated to expire at the end of June.

Speaking on Metro FM's Sports Night Amplified with host Andile Ncube, the forward did not hide his desire to stay.

“I guess will leave it up to my agent, he is the one dealing with those matters,” was Dzvukamanja‘s first response.

But when pressed on what he would prefer, the Zimbabwean international, who scored 8 goals in 18 appearances when coach Jose Riveiro finally gave him a chance to become a Pirates regular, suggested he had no intentions to leave.

“Obviously, as a person everyone wants to play for a big team in the country. Pirates is a big team – I want to be there,” he said.

Riveiro also praised Dzvukamanja's work ethic from the start of the season, when his agent was actively looking for a new club in January at a time when it was evident he was at the bottom of the pecking order.

“I had just arrived one month before the first official game, there were seven players competing in one position and we started with one early on. You could see sparks of quality here and there, but unfortunately for him – and for us – he couldn’t show it. But he got his chance and grew in confidence,” the coach added.
