Sizwe Sibiya speaks HWBSL title ambitions for TS Galaxy Queens

TS Galaxy Queens coach Sizwe Sibiya says the team has raised its points target to over 80 in a bid to dethrone Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies in the Hollywoodbets Super League this season.

This comes after Sibiya guided The Rockets to third place on the log with 69 points from 30 matches last season, finishing 11 points behind the reigning champions.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Sibiya says the team is fully committed to winning the league for the first time in the club’s history, but acknowledges that alignment will be key to achieving their goal.

“So last season we targeted 70 points. We were slowly introducing ourselves and wanted to see how we could respond to that target," said Sibiya.

"We also realised that the league winners usually reach over 80 points, which means if we want to win the league, we also need to reach 80 or more points.

"We are clear about our objective - we want to win the league this season, and we need to remain aligned to reach our destination."

With 21 wins, six draws and three defeats in the 2025 season, Sibiya reflected positively on the team’s overall campaign despite the challenges they encountered.

“It had its own challenges. Most of them were internal - the images we saw when looking into the mirror. But it was also exciting because we had to dig deep. Overall, we had a good season,” added Sibiya.

The 36-year-old mentor also revealed that the club has retained a large core of last season’s squad as they continue with preparations for the new campaign.

“We have already started with preseason and a big group of last season’s players is still with us. Hopefully, we can have an even better season than the last one. I always say that we plan and God decides,” he expressed.
