Nkosi had been sidelined since 1 August, when she featured against Musa United, and had made just under seven league appearances for Amakhosazana this season.
Speaking to SABC Sport, the 20-year-old says she was delighted to return with a victory and believes the result underlines the team’s hunger to win the league title in record-breaking fashion in their debut season.
“It felt really good. Honestly, after being out for weeks, I realised how much I missed being out there competing. I was just grateful to be back doing what I love and contributing to the team.
“I think the result showed the hunger and belief we have as a team. We know what we want to achieve, and the mandate that was set for us was very clear. So, everyone is willing to put in the work and fight for it. We take it one game at a time,” said Nkosi.
The victory moved Kaizer Chiefs to the top of the log with 67 points after 21 wins from 27 fixtures.
Nkosi attributes the team’s impressive campaign to hard work and consistency, but insists the job is not done until the final whistle of their last game.
“To win 21 games out of 27 shows consistency, character and hard work within the team. I think we can really be proud of what we’ve achieved as debutants, although we know the job isn’t done yet. The most important thing now is to carry the momentum into the final stage,” she added.
Kaizer Chiefs will conclude their season against Nicko Taurus FA at Munsieville Stadium on Saturday, with Nkosi expecting a tough encounter as they look to finish the campaign on a high.
