TS Galaxy attacker Seluleko Mahlambi says he always believed he would earn his chance in the PSL, even after being released by Cape Town City.
The 21-year-old joined the Citizens from AmaZulu’s youth structures, hoping to break into the first team — only to be told he wasn’t good enough.
But Mahlambi says he never lost faith, and his perseverance has since paid off under Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic, who has been impressed by the youngster’s attitude and performances.
Mahlambi admits that living up to his brother Phakamani’s legacy on the pitch was a pressure his father had warned him about.
Mahlambi adds that Phakamani, who played for Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns, keeps reminding him not to repeat the mistakes that cost him his career.
Even with five goals and two assists in 12 games for Galaxy, Mahlambi admits to using his brother’s mistakes to inspire him.
