Tim Sukazi optimistic for TS Galaxy backs Kruger United

Following an extensive recruitment drive that saw the club bring in 14 new players, the Rockets also claimed the Mpumalanga Premier’s Cup title with a 3-1 victory over Kruger United in the final to round off a positive pre-season. 

Sukazi believes the squad has the quality to compete, but says the true measure of the team’s progress will only become clear once the opening rounds of the league have been completed and the standings begin to take shape.

"We are exactly where we are supposed to be when we read the stats for our GPS readings for each player. So, that's quite satisfying but like I always say assembling a team is one thing. However, getting them to perform at the highest level of the game is another,” Sukazi said. 

“After eight games when the log table starts recognising itself that's when the truth comes out. Right now, we are quite satisfied and the youngsters seem to be settling in very well. If you don't know the team, you wouldn't tell who's new, who's old."

Sukazi says TS Galaxy’s recruitment strategy extends beyond strengthening the first team, with the club remaining committed to creating opportunities for footballers from Mpumalanga. 

He explains that identifying and nurturing local talent has always formed part of the club’s long-term vision.

"We are doing this work for our province, so it's not an easy job. Every time we assemble a team, preparing for the new season, we have the entire province in mind and our intention in mind is not to disappoint our people,” he added. 

“Yesterday as you have seen we announced eight new players and today was the day where we could display what we signed. As you can see these players are young and we are infusing them into our core team."

With Kruger United becoming the second Mpumalanga club to compete in the Betway Premiership this season, Sukazi believes the province is making encouraging strides in South African football. 

He says he hopes even more teams will eventually reach the top flight and credits the annual Mpumalanga Premier’s Cup for providing clubs with valuable competitive preparation while helping grow the game across the province.
