Stellenbosch extend unbeaten streak with big win over Royal Am

Stellenbosch FC showcased their dominance in the DStv Premiership, extending their unbeaten streak to an impressive 12 matches with a commanding 3-0 triumph over Royal AM at the Danie Craven Stadium.

The match saw Iqraam Rayners return to the Stellenbosch attack, displaying remarkable resilience just days after featuring for Bafana Bafana in their clash against Algeria. In a match that initially simmered under the sweltering heat, Steve Barker's side eventually seized control. Devon Titus broke the deadlock in the 25th minute, capitalizing on a precise through-ball from Rayners to slot the ball past Hugo Nyame and give Stellenbosch a 1-0 lead.

Titus, who has been enjoying a productive season, showcased his prowess once again, bringing his league goal tally to five, complementing his earlier contributions in the Nedbank Cup and Carling Knockout Cup.

Stellenbosch further solidified their lead just before half-time, with Andre de Jong calmly finding the net after outmanoeuvring the Royal AM defence to make it 2-0.

The home side maintained their momentum in the second half, with Rayners adding his name to the scoresheet, highlighting his dual role as both goal scorer and provider. Rayners' goal marked his eighth in the league, underlining his significance to the team's attacking prowess.

Despite a valiant effort from Royal AM, John Maduka's side fell short, leaving the manager disappointed, especially following their commendable performance in the previous league outing. Meanwhile, Stellenbosch ascends to second place, continuing their relentless pursuit of success in the Premiership.

The three points, meanwhile, moved Golden Arrows into the top eight of the league standings.

Mabena goal the difference for Polokwane against Chippa
