Cape Town Spurs scored late to grab a crucial victory over Richards Bay in a relegation battle while TS Galaxy beat Swallows at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Spurs grab crucial victory over Richards Bay in relegation battle

Cape Town Spurs have given themselves a chance to avoid relegation after a 1-0 home victory against fellow strugglers Richards Bay at Athlone Stadium.

The crucial strike came with four minutes from full-time when substitute Azola Jakalashe connected with a header that beat visiting goalkeeper Salim Magoola.

The victory means Spurs remain at the bottom of the standings but are now five points behind Richards Bay with both teams having five matches still to play this season.

The Cape side host Polokwane City in their next match while Richards Bay face Amazulu in a KZN derby in their next encounter.

Rockets shoot down Swallows 

TS Galaxy moved up to fifth in the league table after a 2-1 win against Swallows at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Sphiwe Mahlangu gave the Rockets the lead just after the half hour mark before Samir Nurkovic came off the bench to double the lead in the 60th minute.

Swallows grabbed a consolation goal late on when Gabadinho Mhango found the back of the net but the Birds were no match for the hosts.
