PSL clubs eager to build on Bafana’s memorable World Cup

As Bafana Bafana entered the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup for the first time on Thursday morning, the Premier Soccer League posted a bold message hitting back at critics.

The message read.... “The quality of the PSL product speaks for itself. Congratulations to Bafana Bafana for their qualification to the round of 16 at the World Cup”.

CEO of AmaZulu Sine Zungu-Ntuli was in the stands when a former Usuthu player and now Orlando Pirates flying winger, Tshepang Moremi, came from the bench to provide the assist to Thapelo Maseko’s goal to clinch the 1-0 win over South Korea.

Zungu, who has been attending a few matches in this tournament says the victory against South Korea was very special for the country.

Echoing the statement is Chippa United’s general manager, Sandiso Mpengesi, who also highlighted the importance of development.

Based on the games he’s watched, Mpengesi says it’s clear that development is the key part of most teams in this tournament...

"I think this experience has given us a target. We are sharing the world stage with well-developed players, and I think what we have witnessed as the PSL clubs in this World Cup is how important development is. We have to look at strategies on how to improve development and better this generation of talents even more."
