Player sales no obstacle as Galaxy eye another Nedbank Cup run

TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic says the sale of several key players has not dented his belief that The Rockets can still mount a serious Nedbank Cup challenge this season.

Galaxy host Marumo Gallants at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Sunday in the round of 32, aiming to progress and rekindle memories of their remarkable 2019 triumph, when they lifted the trophy as a lower-division side.

Beganovic insists the team has not regressed, reiterating that player sales form part of the club’s established business model, which he fully supports.

"I've explained this already: we produce players and we sell because we want to. We decide, in crucial moments, to sell our players.

"I think TS Galaxy, over the last three years, has sold so many players to the best teams in South Africa, around Africa, Europe and now The United States," said Beganovic

The coach says the club is always thinking ahead and ready with a plan following a big sale of an important player. Beganovic added that there was no time to moan in his line of work.

"Even though we've had some problems from the begining – from the FIFA ban at the star of the season up to now – I've never cried or complained about anything. We have enough players.

"It's simple: you have a car which you drive, and sometimes someone will have a faster or better car than you, but every car must go from point A to B. It's just how you drive your – how we drive our team – that is very crucial for me."

After Dithejane sealed a move to Chicago Fire in the MLS and Ndamane joined Mamelodi Sundowns, the coach insists plans were already in place to move forward without them.
