Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy share the spoils in end-to-end Betway Premiership clash

Neither side was able to find the back of the net in a game largely dominated by the Rockets in the first half, before a much stronger showing from Arrows after the break- although Abafana Bes'thende remain without a goal scored in three games this season.

There was an early chance for Arrows as Galaxy goalkeeper Ira Tape was closed down by Ronaldo Van Neel when he attempted to clear from a goal-kick but the attacker steered the loose ball wide of the right upright.

Sedwin George then headed over from the edge of the small box after a super ball into the area from the right flank as Galaxy got forward

Victor Letsoalo fired wide from range as he looked to add to his goal tally with 10 minutes on the clock.

There was a scramble in the Arrows box after another good delivery from the right, but neither George nor Mvelase could make use of the ball.

Only the base of the post stopped Mvelase from handing Galaxy the lead on 30 minutes as the ball broke to him after a superb ball into the box from George on the turn.

Arrows responded with an immediate attack and their first corner of the match and excellent deep ball aimed at the far post from Nhlanhla Gasa that was well marshalled by Tape and seen away of danger.

Nqobeko Dlamini was well wide of the target after some more good attacking play from the Rockets, while Seluleko Mahlambi was wayward with the wrong foot as the ball dropped to him in space and time to bring the pass under control for the last piece of action of an attacking first half, slightly edged by the home team.

A deep free kick threatened to cause havoc for Arrows in the opening moments of the second half but Edward Maova was able to get across to shephard the ball out of play.

George came as close as anyone to opening the scoring with a clever low free kick on 50 minutes that beat the keeper but not the post.

But the action soon swung up the other end, with Tape making a strong near-post save after Van Neel broke past his man and tried to side foot home.

Maova got down well to keep out a low drive from Letsoalo just ahead of the hour mark. Mahlambi must have thought he was about to break the deadlock in the 63rd minute as latched onto a loose ball, only for a last-gasp deflection from Ayanda Jiyane to take the pace off the ball.

Junior Dion headed wide on 66 minutes and Maova was relieved to get both hands to the ball as Letsoalo was inches away to connecting to a long ball out of defence.

Van Need showed his promise with another storming forward run before seeing his shot block, while Dion was unable to make anything of the rebound as the ball rolled out of play when he looked poised to volley home.

Both sides kept plugging away for a winner but Osborn Maluleke's shot from distance was always travelling away from goal.

There was some lively play even in the dying minutes of the match but ultimately a lack of composure in front of goal as the two teams had to settle for a point apiece.
