The Bafana Bafana shot-stopper said the win was even sweeter because it came against a Stellenbosch FC side that has often proved a tricky opponent.
Following two goals from one of the new faces in winger Tshepang Moremi, the shot stopper described the current squad under coach Abdeslam Ouaddou as a fresh start pointing to the impact of nearly a dozen new arrivals this season.
"Very tough game, we know what Stellenbosch posses, it's always been a very difficult fixture for us, going down a couple of years, three seasons, they haven't been an easy opposition to play against and to come here 0-0 at full time, it wasn't easy but I'm just glad that we were able to pull it through as a team,” Chaine said.
“A very new team that we've assembled this season, I could say starting from scratch but a lot of new players and I'm just happy that we can come together very early in a competition that we've won a couple of times,
“And to do it again in such a short space of time tells a lot about what we've grown to be as a group and as a new team if I may say."
Pirates haven’t gotten off to an ideal start to the campaign under Ouaddou, however Chaine does not see it that way.
"Slow start, it's just how you define it my brother, for us, like I said it's a new team, we assembled I think 11 new players and for us to be able to come together in such a short space of time is really incredible,” the keeper added.
“It says a lot about the type of players we have and it says a lot about what we can still achieve in the future with very young players that are really eager to do well for a club like Orlando Pirates."
