Speaking after their fourth win of the season, beating Golden Arrows 1-0 in Durban this past weekend, Nabi says the entire defense, led by Peterson, has done a great job in these early stages of the season.
Chiefs had the third-worst defensive record last season, and Nabi says they’ve improved this season.
"I think this run of five games without conceding a goal is a huge positive for the team. I congratulate the whole team, but I have to give specific mention to Peterson and his work, as well as his goalkeeping coach.
"I trust Peterson's work, and I know his quality," said Nabi.
Newly signed striker from Guinea-Bissau, Flavio Silva, came from the bench and scored on debut this past weekend.
He combined well with other substitutes, Gastin Sirno and Mfundo Vilakazi.
This is also an illustration of how the improved quality in the Chiefs squad has given them a stronger bench.
One of the individuals who has worked diligently to bring in players during this transfer window is the club’s Chief Scout and Head of Recruitment, Tembela “Tera” Maliwa, working closely with the club’s Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Junior.
Nabi says all they need now is patience to integrate some of the new players into the team.
With this impressive start in the league, four wins from five matches and sitting on top of the points table, just below league leaders Sekhukhune United on goal difference, Nabi knows that the expectations are already high from the fans.
"When we arrived at Kaizer Chiefs, we knew that the last few years were tough for the club, but from the beginning, I said to the club and to all of the supporters that my intention is to bring this club back to where it belongs.
"I have to say as well, when we are in a good space, the fans should enjoy that, but we need them to stick by us and support us when things aren't going that well."
