Molefi Ntseki won't rule out Kaizer Chiefs move for Sibongiseni Mthethwa

With just a week before the curtain drops on the main PSL transfer window, Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has admitted interest in Stellenbosch FC’s midfield strongman Sibongiseni Mthethwa.

The Bafana Bafana midfielder has long been linked with a move to Chiefs and recent media reports alleged Stellies had turned down Amakhosi’s offer for his services.

There have been growing calls from Chiefs supporters for the club to sign a player of Mthethwa’s profile, and Ntseki entertained the prospect of bringing in the 28-year-old.

"Ja, I think the most important thing is that whenever you see a good player elsewhere, people always associate that player with Kaizer Chiefs," said Ntseki.

"I think in our player audit, we have put in so many players – even though we have never gone public about those players, and it's very normal for a team like Kaizer Chiefs to be looking for quality players to strengthen the team.

"The name of Mthethwa has also taken the rounds about him coming to Chiefs, and there have been many other players that were spoken about, but the most important thing is that he's a good quality player.

"We would love to have him any time, whenever he's available, whenever we have the resources to bring him in, but he's a good player."

Chiefs have already signed eight new players in this window and, with the spotlight on the former Black Leopards midfielder, Ntseki has not ruled out more signings for Chiefs before the end of the window.

"You don't close the window if ever you can get any quality player coming to the club. We are still looking for quality players to come into the club to strengthen the team," he confirmed.

"Because we can't, maybe, turn a blind eye on a good player – whether it's a striker, defender, midfielder, or a goalkeeper, whenever a player is available and affordable, we will definitely look into that player.

"Yes, we still have a few days left before the window closes, when it comes to player registrations, if ever we get an opportunity to get any of those quality players, we'll definitely go for them."
