Chiefs defeat fuelled Limpopo derby victory - Cedric Kaze

Babina Noko secured a convincing 2-0 victory after a polished performance that pleased Kaze and his technical team, particularly the players’ application and response. 

The result lifted Sekhukhune to third place in the Betway Premiership standings after three matches, while Kaze highlighted the improvements from the midweek defeat. 

"Yeah, it's the kind of reaction that we were waiting for and as well it's a derby and it's a good way to react and to get back to the winning side of the league. The difference was in the attitude, in the belief that we wanted to do something,” Kaze said.

“I thought that in the game in the midweek we gave too much space, too much respect to the opponent and we didn't play our game and press them and play with the belief that we can make things happen. That was the difference today."

Kaze added that he felt Sekhukhune could have done more than just find the back of the net twice, but the coach was still satisfied. 

"You know in the second half they came with a lot of long balls, a lot of direct play but I think we got opportunities as well to score and we didn't concede a lot of opportunities to the opponent,” the coach added. 

“And I believe that it's a game where we could have scored more than two but we will take the two points and build from that."

There was another injury casualty for Sekhukhune in midfielder Givemore Khupe after he dislocated his shoulder. 

Kaze gave an update on Khupe and Vusi Mncube. 

"I hope that it's not something very serious, we'll have to talk to the medical staff but at half time they said that it might not be as serious as we expect because it's something that has happened to him before. We hope that he will be there next week. 

“Vusi is a long term injury and he's working with our medical team and we hope that in the coming weeks he will be able to join the team."
