Orbit came into this game, buoyed by the vital away win to TS Galaxy last week, and after finishing the first half goalless, there was a bit of hope for the 14th-placed side. But two quick goals from Miguel Reisinho and Iqraam Rayners had the hosts on the back foot, and Makoye says these are the kinds of losses that you budget for.
"I mean, we all knew that these are the teams that if we have to lose, these are the teams that you can lose against. And that's why it was so crucial against TS Galaxy that we at least get those three points. So at least when we came here, we don't have too much pressure on us, at least we need to put the points on the board," Makhoye said
"And we did that for the past two games, especially preparing for this one. So the next game, we need to go all out because we have lost at home. And now against Siwelele, we need to prepare well and see what we can get from them."
It all looked like Orbit College’s first-half game plan was going to work as they went into halftime deadlocked at 0-0, but Makhoye says they lacked the tactical endurance to take Sundowns all the way.
Around the 71st minute, when both teams made triple substitutions, Sundowns were already leading 2-0, yet they still unleashed three key players from the bench: Thapelo Morena, Brayan Leon, and Tashreeq Matthews, with Themba “Mshishi” Zwane joining later. Makoye says Sundowns quality was telling in this game.
Orbit, who have played two games more than bottom-placed Magesi FC, are five points clear of the Limpopo side, with 18 points from 21 matches. Their next game will be against Siwelele FC on the 22nd of this month, and Makoye says these are the games they will target for points.
