Lehlohonolo Seema backs Siwelele rebuild amidst player exodus

The Bloemfontein-based club have parted ways, as well as sold several key players, including Ricardo Goss, Neo Rapoo and Gamphani Lungu, during the transfer window. Speaking at the Premier Soccer League season launch in Johannesburg, Seema acknowledged the departures but insisted the club's recruitment strategy has strengthened the squad. 

"I think I have a better team than I had last season, and when I say better I mean in terms of depth and balance of the squad in all positions. We don't have that big amount of injured players in our squad either."

Siwelele’s task was to retain their topflight status following a transition period having purchased the SuperSport United franchise.

Siwelele were meant to fully relocate to Mangaung this season, but Seema confirmed that there’s been a delay.

"For me it hasn't really sunk in because the day I see ourselves staying there fully and waking up in Bloemfontein, I'll be very happy. At the moment it's still going to be the same."

Seema stressed that this robbed them of being more competitive last season due to the constant travel. He says everyone at the club is looking forward to this being formalised.
