Los Blancos arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu with a point to prove after their shock defeat to Real Betis last time out.

Madrid produced a dominant first-half display to lead 3-0, then absorbed some second-half pressure before sealing the win late on.

Alvaro Carreras drove into the box and was fouled by Rayo defender Florian Lejeune, with the referee pointing to the spot for a penalty in the 13th minute. Mbappe stepped up and coolly sent goalkeeper Emil Audero the wrong way, placing the ball into the bottom right corner of the net.

Lejeune was also involved in the second goal, this time with a poor pass under pressure from Vinicius Junior that gifted possession to Real Madrid high up the pitch. Mbappe and Carreras combined with a quick one-two inside the area to set Carreras up for an expert finish to double their lead in the 16th minute.

Around the half-hour mark, Vinicius Junior drove down the left flank, beat his man, and cut the ball back into the box for the arriving Bellingham, who opened up his body and side-footed a controlled finish into the bottom corner.

Rayo improved after the break and caught the home side playing out from the back in the 50th minute, with Sergio Camello pouncing on the opportunity to seize possession before poking the ball through Ibrahima Konate's legs and slotting a finish past Thibaut Courtois to make it 3-1.

However, Real retook control of the game shortly after that and rarely looked in danger of conceding again. They made sure of the result in stoppage time, with Arda Guler providing the assist for Mbappe to complete his brace.

Sevilla 1-0 Valencia

Sevilla dominated and created the clearer chances but needed a late breakthrough against a limited Valencia side that remains bottom of the table with just one point in LaLiga so far.

After 80 minutes of toil, Juan Iglesias finally found the breakthrough when he headed in the winner from a Giorgi Kochorashvili free-kick.

Racing Santander 2-1 Alaves

Racing ended Alaves' unbeaten start and held on for a dramatic 2-1 win despite a late red card for Andre Almeida, with Yassir Zabiri's brace proving decisive in a strong home performance.

Ville Koski put the hosts ahead in the 17th minute, before Yassir Zabiri equalised in the 37th minute and scored the winner shortly after half-time.

Osasuna 0-2 Espanyol

Osasuna dominated possession and territory on a frustrating day where they lacked a cutting edge and had a Ruben Garcia goal was disallowed. Espanyol defended solidly and took their chances to earn a valuable away win.

Roberto Fernández scored twice in the opening 17 minutes to give Espanyol a commanding early lead at El Sadar, which they were able to hang onto for the rest of the game.

Athletic Club 1-1 Elche

Athletic controlled large spells and created more chances but needed a late equaliser from Inaki Williams to earn a point.

Facundo Buonanotte converted a penalty early in the second half to put Elche ahead against the run of play, forcing Athletic to shift gears in search of an equaliser, which they only managed to grab in the 79th minute.
