Xavi Espart focused on stronger Barcelona return after El Clasico injury

Barcelona wingback Xavi Espart has expressed his target of returning to action soon following his injury in the 2-1 El Clasico derby loss to rivals Real Madrid on Sunday.

The 19-year-old suffered a blow to his right ankle after challenging for the ball with Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, forcing his 30th minute substitution.

According to reports, the teenager has been diagnosed with a syndemsmosis injury which is set to see him out of action for up to seven weeks.

The Spaniard posted a short message on his Instagram, lamenting the defeat to Madrid and declaring his intent for a speedy recover.

"Sad for the defeat, with only one idea in mind: to come back as soon as possible, the better. They can't handle us. Forca Barca!" read his social media post.

The Catalan side have struggled with defensive injuries of late, with Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde missing the last few matches through injury.

However, Frenchman Kounde is touted for a possible return to the side when they face Alaves in their next La Liga clash at the Camp Nou on Saturday.

The defending league champions will be looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid and maintain their lead on top of the table.
