LaLiga: Barcelona bounce back with big win over Alaves

Barcelona returned to the summit of LaLiga with a comprehensive 6-1 win over Alaves at Camp Nou on Saturday.

The Catalans bounced back from their first league defeat of the season in El Clasico and a Champions League setback against PSG with a dominant performance against Alaves.

The hosts led 4-0 at half-time and never looked back, finishing with 77% possession and a clear 3.19 expected goals to Alaves' 0.62.

Raphinha opened the scoring in the 8th minute, finishing a cross from Fermin Lopez after Pedri's through ball cut open the visitors.

Fermin made it 2-0 in the 23rd minute with a crisp finish from a tight angle before Raphinha added his second in the 41st minute after Fermin won the ball back high up the pitch.

Lamine Yamal completed the first-half rout deep in stoppage time, rifling a low shot into the corner after a slick team move.

In the second half, Yamal scored again in the 64th minute, set up by substitute Gabriel Jesus after a brief VAR check for offside.

Anthony Gordon, also on as a substitute, converted a defence-splitting pass from Rodri in the 81st minute for the sixth.

Mariano Diaz pulled one back for Alavés three minutes later after a Barcelona error in possession but it was nothing more than a consolation goal.

Levante 0-2 Atletico Madrid

Diego Simeone's side made it seven straight league wins and briefly topped the table earlier in the day.

Alejandro Grimaldo opened the scoring in the 36th minute after a defensive mistake, and Giuliano Simeone, assisted by Alex Baena, sealed the points in the 62nd minute.

Atletico had two goals ruled out by VAR for offside but controlled the key moments and never looked in danger of dropping points.

Rayo Vallecano 3-0 Celta Vigo

Rayo ended a three-game winless run in style at Vallecas, with Jorge de Frutos scoring either side of half-time (36' and 55'), and Unai López adding a third from distance in the 73rd minute, while Celta Vigo failed to register a shot on target.

Real Betis 2-1 Malaga

Betis took control in the first half through Marc Bartra's header in the 38th minute and Pablo Fornals' finish in first-half stoppage time.

Adrian Nino pulled one back for bottom-side Malaga in the 68th minute, but Betis held on to stay fourth.
