Kaizer Chiefs rope in top CAF official to bolster administration

Kaizer Chiefs have bolstered their football administration team with the addition of respected African and South African football administrator Kabelo Bosilong.

Chiefs marketing director and board member Jessica Motaung confirmed the news to SABC Sport and revealed that Bosilong will mainly work with the football department.

“It’s important for us not to strengthen only on the field but off the field as well. A lot of the time we focus on what’s happening on the pitch. But certainly, for us to compete internationally and on the continent, we need good administrators," said Motaung.

“It’s great to have Kabelo join us and be on board, and we will be bringing in a lot of other people to make sure that the support is not only on the pitch, but at the administration level as well, to make sure this club goes where it needs to go."

Bosilong, a club licensing specialist and seasoned football administrator, is expected to work closely with Amakhosi sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr and football manager Bobby Motaung after previously heading preparations for the CHAN, which is set to start in August.

He began his football journey around 2007 as a personal assistant to former Premier Soccer League CEO Kjetil Siem and played an instrumental role in the introduction of the PSL compliance manuals, which form the backbone of the League today.

Bosilong, who holds a FIFA Master's degree has also been working with CAF in various capacities over the past decade, across various competition including the Africa Cup of Nations, CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, and African Football League.

Most recently, the 43-year-old had also been working with the Chiefs marketing honcho to set up African Club Association's offices in Rabat.

Motaung shared more on what the Potchefstroom-born administrator’s role will entail.

"Well, his role is in football administration, sporting administration, but also with his great experience at CAF, his involvement in the marketing and event side is very valuable, a very unique and holistic role,” Motaung concluded.
