Kaizer Chiefs were held to a 1-1 draw by AmaZulu at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening despite dominating the visitors with possession and chances created.
Amakhosi came out guns blazing at Soccer City, troubling the Usuthu defence with numerous efforts within the first 20 minutes of the encounter.
The visiting side got the lead against the run of play when Zimbabwean striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya netted his fourth goal of the season after good work from Andiswa Sithole.
The home side were handed a lifeline via a 30th minute penalty following a contentious handball decision against Riaan Hanamub, but club top goal scorer Glody Lilepo saw his penalty well saved by Darren Johnson for a corner-kick.

Chiefs continued to apply the pressure in the second half but could not find the final pass in the last third, often reverting to long-range efforts.
AmaZulu were content to maintain their defensive shape deep in their half for the majority of the match, only registering three shots at goal throughout the 90 minutes.
The results see the Soweto giants remain winless in their last three Betway Premiership fixtures and move into fifth position, whilst Usuthu jump above Richards Bay into ninth.
