Kaizer Chiefs come from behind to sink Sundowns and reach Nedbank Cup final

Kaizer Chiefs recorded a sensational 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday night to secure their place in the Nedbank Cup final.

Teboho Mokoena's goal five minutes into stoppage time at the end of the first half looked to be enough to hand Sundowns the win, and a final match-up with Orlando Pirates, following their narrow 1-0 win at home to MArumo Gallants.

But Wandile Dube equalised in the 57th minute before Amakhosi substitute Ashley Du Preez netted an 89th minute winner.

Sundowns started well, and Mokoena had a good early shot deflected just over the crossbar.

Iqraam Rayners then connected to a Marcelo Allende pass in the box but the Downs attacker fired wide of target.

Rayners drew a strong save from Chiefs stopper Bruce Bvuma, before Ronwen Williams stood strong to deny Gaston Sirino from firing Amakhosi into a 34th minute lead.

The half looked to be winding down with both teams level pegging until Mokoena left Bvuma with no chance as he blasted a sublime free-kick past the despairing stopper.

There was very little in the way of goalmouth action after the break until Chiefs equalised through Duba following an error in defence by Lucas Suarez.

Lucas Ribeiro looked to respond with a strike on the half volley that flew just over the goal.

Allende floated in a 69th minute free-kick that Ribeiro was inches away from connecting to, but Du Preez made no mistake when he side-footed home a pinpoint cross for a sensational winner.
