Kai Havertz feels "strong and ready to go" as Arsenal cruise past Girona

The Germany international opened the scoring after Arsenal completed their week-long training camp in Spain. Christos Tzolis, Max Dowman and Gabriel Jesus also got on the scoresheet as Mikel Arteta's side produced an encouraging display.

Havertz was pleased with the performance and believes the team are already showing positive signs ahead of the new season.

"You saw already the connections we had on the pitch. It was a good test for us against a good team and I think we played strong. We need to continue like that now," he told the club's media channels.

The 26-year-old also stressed the importance of pre-season matches in helping the squad regain match sharpness after the summer break.

"Playing games is the best way to get fit and especially for the players. I think they've had a long break now. I think it's important to play a couple of games. I think we're already looking forward to the next one."

Havertz added that he is already close to full fitness despite only recently returning to action.

"My fitness levels are quite good, to be fair. I feel like I had three weeks off. I think I didn't lose too much and I feel good, feel strong and I'm ready to go."

Arsenal will continue their preparations for the new campaign when they face Spanish side Real Betis at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on Wednesday.
