Jessica Wade shares expectations as team hosts UWC in HWBSL clash

JVW FC midfielder Jessica Wade says they need to put their best foot forward to secure a win in their Hollywoodbets Super League clash against the University of the Western Cape in Soweto tonight.

JVW will look to maintain their winning momentum - they have not lost a single match in seven outings, helping them to secure a comfortable spot in the top three.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Wade adds that they will also make use of  the homeground advantage since UWC is not an easy side to beat.

“We’re approaching this game like we would any other, with the hunger to walk away with all three points. We know that UWC are fierce opponents and that we’ll have to put our best foot forward to beat them.

“I think it’s always an advantage to play at home, the familiarity of the field, altitude and routine helps. We don’t have the added stress of travel and the support of our fans is a massive boost,” said Wade.

Wade has been instrumental to helping the Bedfordview outfit to enjoy a decent run this season, as they contend for a top two finish.

And this is what she had to say when asked about her top performance and consistency.

“I don’t normally like to comment on my personal performance because it really comes down to what the team does on the field. I think from the players in the stands, on the bench, and in the starting 11, it’s been incredible. The work that has gone on behind the scenes and the effort put in on a daily basis is a testament to our results. I’m just really proud to be part of this team and honored that I was able to play a role in helping us get to where we are,” added Wade.

JVW has managed to secure 18 wins in 27 games, and now even with second place TS Galaxy with 60 points. Wade shares what has been the turning point for the team.

“ I think the team has truly been chasing for consistency this season. And based on the points we have secured a top three position which we are really pleased with. However, the goal hasn’t changed for us and we are as hungry as ever to claim the maximum number of points from our remaining fixtures,” she expressed.
