Important lessons learnt as Kaizer Chiefs lose back-to-back friendly matches - Molefi Ntseki

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki says they are learning some important lessons ahead of the kick-off of the new season, after watching his side suffering back-to-back defeats this weekend.

Ntseki was speaking to the media in Gaborone, Botswana after narrowly losing 1-0 to local giants Township Rollers in a friendly match played at the National Stadium yesterday.

Last weekend, Chiefs had lost by the same score line to Tanzanian champions Young Africans, as they prepare to meet Chippa United in the 2023/2024 Dstv Premiership opener next Saturday.

"That goal leaves us with a lot of questions in terms of what led to the goal, what happened before the goal was scored. For us, looking at the final score we are disappointed because we came here to give a good performance. But the most important thing is, looking at the game itself, I think it was a very good exercise because of our preparation," Ntseki said.

"Having to play the last official preparation before we play our official first PSL game. I think whatever that came out of this game and the game we played in Tanzania, these are all lessons. Lessons are very important because you learn from the setback and it helps you to regroup and work on those areas of the game that will help you going forward.

Against Rollers, Chiefs were misfiring in the final third, unable to finish off most of the chances they had created. With the newly signed striker Ranga Chivaviro out injured and still doubts about the future of Burundian striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana with the club, this gives credence to reports that Chiefs are surprisingly looking at signing Malawian international striker Gabadinho Mhango from AmaZulu. Ntseki talks about their objectives from the past two matches.

"That is the objective that we are driving, we are working more on tactical improvement. Players understanding how we shape in possession and how we shape out of possession. What I've learnt from this game is we'll continue working on them for better improvement and better performance."
