Haunted but not hindered – TS Galaxy eye final after Orlando Pirates humiliation

TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic concedes the 6-0 thrashing by Orlando Pirates in the league still lingers but insists it is not driving their push for a Nedbank Cup final spot.

The Rockets host Milford FC in Sunday’s semifinal at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium, two weeks after the heavy defeat.

Beganovic says the team has had to move on quickly.

"Ja, it's also very important, but I think the FIFA break helped us a lot because it came at the best time for us after that tough game. It's difficult to explain how we conceded all of those goals and why we struggled so much in that game," said Beganovic

"I think it's the first time in two years that a game like that has happened. We tried to rest our players and recover our players. We've have had some meetings with them and wanted to analyse everything that happened in that game. We explained it to the players and then immediately wanted to close that case and turn our attention to recovery and how we can be ready for the games that we have coming up.

"I think all the players accepted the positives because we spoke and had a great conversation. We tried to find reasons why something like that happened, and we also try made the point not to allow this to happen in the future, because we are a professional club with professional players."

The coach added that the side set to face Milford will prove Galaxy are a good side – not the lacklustre outfit that turned out against Pirates.

Beganovic wants to see the team rediscover the form that thrust them in the top four bracket earlier in the season before the wheels came off.

He is confident of rescuing the season with minimum a top eight finish and the Nedbank Cup as a bonus come May.
