No better test than Orlando Pirates says Cedric Kaze

Sekhukhune United coach Cedric Kaze believes this week presents the perfect opportunity to test the depth of his squad as Babina Noko target silverware in the 2026/27 season.

Sekhukhune face Orlando Pirates three times in the space of 10 days, with a two-legged MTN8 semifinal and a Betway Premiership encounter against the Buccaneers sandwiched between the cup ties.

Pirates are the defending champions of both competitions, making the semifinal an ideal examination for an ambitious Sekhukhune side. Kaze believes there could be no better test of his squad’s strength, character and depth.

Kaze knows his charges have not been in peak form but says he is not overly concerned ahead of the Pirates clash, especially on the back of a 2-0 win against Polokwane City.

Pirates are unbeaten in four matches across all competitions and while coy about his tactics, Kaze is confident he has spotted some frailties.

"My team has to be able to perform in any situation and any field we play on. I don't want to give away my secrets, but let's just say I've seen how other teams have dealt with them without success. I plan on going a different way."

The challenge Kaze admits both teams could face on Saturday is the playing surface at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium where the cup fixture is being played.

"We just have to deal with what's in front of us. Seshego stadium is not the best pitch we could've played on the other day but we managed to get some points, we just have to embrace the challenge again tomorrow."
