Given Msimango included in Kaizer Chiefs’ bid to land Langelihle Phili

The public broadcaster revealed on Wednesday that AmaKhosi had made a significant breakthrough in their pursuit of the Stellies youngster after weeks of negotiations behind the scenes. 

While the two clubs have agreed in principle on the broad framework of the deal, it is understood that striker Ashley du Preez and Msimango have both been included as part of the proposed player-plus-cash package.

Chiefs have already strengthened their squad with the arrivals of goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner, defender Thabo Moloisane and Tanzanian midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa. Phili would become the club's fourth signing ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, following new coach Fernando Da Cruz's request to further strengthen his attacking options.

The South Africa Under-20 international is regarded as one of the country's brightest prospects and had previously been linked with a move to Europe before Chiefs intensified their interest.

Although negotiations appeared to stall at one stage, Amakhosi returned to the table with an improved proposal that included both cash and players.

While the agreement has not yet been finalised, Msimango now appears set to leave Naturena. The 29-year-old arrived from TS Galaxy in 2023 after captaining The Rockets but has struggled to cement a regular place in the Chiefs starting line-up.

Despite featuring during the club's pre-season tour of Spain, Msimango is now considered surplus to requirements. 

He made 53 appearances for Chiefs across all competitions, including just 13 Betway Premiership matches last season.
