Gavin Hunt wary of Danie Craven factor ahead of Stellenbosch trip

SuperSport United coach Gavin Hunt admits he’s a little wary of facing Stellenbosch FC at Danie Craven Stadium, which the Cape Winelands outfit are slowly turning into a fortress.

Matsatsantsa have a score to settle after they were eliminated from the MTN8 by the same team earlier this month.

Hunt believes they still have a chance away from home.

"Obviously, when you're at home, you can make places a fortress because you're playing at home, which I always go on about, but I mean we've beaten them there last year," said Hunt.

"So, it won't be easy, the ground will be really wet and rainy, and the surface is not good so you won't have much of a football match in terms of passing and possession.

"But, it will be a tough game and they are difficult to beat there, that's for sure."

Stellies did clinch the cup tie a fortnight ago through striker Andre De Jong’s extra-time goal, when a tactical battle had forced the game beyond the 90 minutes.

As far as their prospects go this season, the four-time league-winning tactician is not quite ready to predict where they could end up this season, after finishing third behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates last term, following some good additions to his squad.

"We need everybody to improve and going in the same direction, so I think once you get into the nitty gritty after 10-12 games, that's when you really see where you are and what position we can hopefully finish. We'll just take one game at a time and go from there," he concluded.
