Gavin Hunt makes bold Quwan Plaatjies comparison after hat-trick

Stellenbosch FC coach Gavin Hunt has compared young Quwan Plaatjies to Bafana Bafana legend Mark Williams, saying that he’s a naturally gifted goalscorer.

Plaatjies had an unbelievable PSL debut when they faced Marumo Gallants in a Betway Premiership clash at Athlone Stadium last night, where he netted a hat-trick inside an hour to give his side a 3-1 win.

Hunt says the 20-year-old is a rare breed, and like Williams, that are just born to score goals.

"He is not a striker this boy, he is a goalscorer - there is a big difference for me. He is like Mark Williams, a natural goalscorer, and that's really hard to find."

Hunt also gave a glowing review of another youngster – Raoul Daniels – who was instrumental down their right wing, saying he fits perfectly into the style of play that he believes in.

"Daniels is my kind of winger, his crossing is fantastic and so accurate. It's something to work with, but it's a real breath of fresh air to have these kind of players around."

Meanwhile…Hunt also clarified why he felt that their first game of the season should have been postponed like Mamelodi Sundowns. He says the death of Jayden Adams probably affected his players and club more than Sundowns, as that’s where he came through the ranks and made a name for himself.
