Hunt and Klate share a rich history as coach and player, having won three league titles with Klate at SuperSport United before adding a fourth at the now defunct Bidvest Wits, with this being their first time working together as tacticians.
Having led the Chippa United reserve team to a fourth-place finish in 2021, Hunt says Klate will be up to the task as City rebuild their youth structures following their return to the topflight.
"Ja, Daine has come in with the Diski... he knows what we're trying to do and he's been successful with Diski teams before and he likes to work in that space," confirmed Hunt.
"He's a good coach, which is the most important thing, it's not about bringing people in, it's about bringing people in who can coach and know what they're doing on the training ground.
"We don't want people talking on computers, we want people training people on the training ground, that's the most important thing.
"And I think he knows what to do, and how we want to work, so ja, he'll be good for the future."
Klate, a former Orlando Pirates attacker and one of the most successful players in the Premier Soccer League history, was part of City’s technical team during the KwaZulu-Natal Premier Cup in Richards Bay this past weekend, with Hunt elaborating.
"Obviously I brought him with to have a look because most of the players here were his players, it's not the first team players, so he's got a much better idea now from the two days of who's who and what's with the six, seven or eight of them here," he added.
"So that's important going forward, and you must remember we're starting a DDC team now, everyone else has [already] got DDC teams, so he needs to get that whole thing going again.
"And a club like this needs to have a good DDC team that can filter and try and get players through quicker in a better structure, so hopefully we can survive long enough."
