Furious Nasreddine Nabi hits back at journalist amid pressure to deliver in Nedbank final

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi was visibly furious when asked by a journalist whether he is the right man to lead Amakhosi forward during a tense post-match press conference at FNB Stadium.

The 2-1 loss to Soweto rivals Orlando Pirates marked Chiefs’ 12th defeat in the Betway Premiership this season, continuing an inconsistent run under Nabi’s leadership in his debut South African campaign.

The Tunisian tactician did not take kindly to the question.

"Don't provoke me because I'm not a younger coach, I have big experience. 'Because you have a bad result, why do you stay here?' What kind of question is this? Talk to me tactical, talk to me about our process but I'm not nervous, I respect you because I tell my assistant, I don't give time to these questions,” Nabi said.

“If you are professional you will know the process, the evaluation of the process. If you are professional, this is another thing but me? I respect you, I respect all the journalists, don't provoke me, I'm not nervous, I'm nervous because I lost, but I'm not nervous for your question."

Nabi says Chiefs failed to capitalise on their best moments and should have killed the game after taking the lead.

Despite the return of attacking duo Pule Mmodi and Gaston Sirino from suspension, and Edmilson Dove from injury, the reinforcements didn’t have the desired impact.

Here’s coach Nabi speaking via translator and assistant coach Kaze.

"We started the game very well and we feel that we have opportunities, even to kill the game. Unfortunately, we either didn't take our opportunities to kill the game when we were in our best moments,” the coach added.

“The referee didn't give us our right because I feel that there was a penalty when we were still at 1-0."

Nabi revealed that Thabo Cele and Inacio Miguel were not fit enough to start the derby.
