Da Cruz bemoans recurring defensive errors that continue to cost Chiefs valuable points

Twice, Chiefs had to come from behind in this game, the first goal resulting from a howler by captain and number one goalkeeper Brandon Petersen. 

Both goals came from Nqaba Xulu, with the second coming from a corner kick Amakhosi could have avoided. 

Da Cruz says these mistakes can be avoided.

"Very disappointing because our team attacked during the 90 minutes and one team will defend during the 90 minutes and we made two big mistakes and today it's one point but normally, it should be three points," Da Cruz said.

Da Cruz says Chiefs could’ve easily been on 12 points and maintained a 100 percent winning record, and laments the costly mistakes, which are now becoming synonymous with his side.

"You are right, today we have eight points but we should have 12 points because against Mamelodi Sundowns as well we made mistakes. So, today we need to learn from our mistakes and continue to work hard,” the coach added.

“It's very disappointing but also we are happy with the performance as the team because the team played well but we cannot make these types of mistakes at this level."

Chiefs also handed a debut to on-loan winger Faiz Abrahams, who came on for Mfundo Vilakazi, and Da Cruz was happy with the contribution of the impact players, including Asanele Velebhayi, who provided an assist just a minute after having been on the pitch.

Chiefs scored through a penalty from Lebohang Maboe in the first half, and Siphesihle Ndlovu’s strike late in the second half.
