Franco Mastantuono officially unveiled at Real Madrid on 18th birthday

Real Madrid have welcomed their latest prodigy, Franco Mastantuono, who was officially unveiled at Valdebebas on his 18th birthday, a momentous occasion for the young Argentine.

Joined by club president Florentino Perez, club officials, and his family, Mastantuono marked his arrival at the Spanish giants with pride and promise, donning the iconic white shirt for the first time.

The formalities began with the contract signing, where it was confirmed that Mastantuono will wear the number 30 in his debut season. This number, often assigned to youth prospects, hints at a potential pathway similar to that of Vinicius Junior, who began with Real Madrid's Castilla side before becoming a first-team regular under Santiago Solari in the 2018-19 campaign. The choice of a youth-team number suggests Real Madrid may still be eyeing further additions to their senior squad.

Speaking at the presentation, Florentino Perez hailed the signing as a coup for the club. "Franco Mastantuono is one of the greatest talents to emerge in world football in recent years," he said. "We are grateful for his determination to join us. From today, you wear the white shirt of 15 European Cups. Thank you for choosing to be here."

The president's words set a high bar for the youngster's future at the club.

Mastantuono, visibly moved with his family in attendance, addressed the audience with humility and ambition. "I still have much to learn, but the values that brought me here come from my family," he said.

The former River Plate starlet vowed to give everything for the badge, declaring, "I promise to leave my heart on the pitch for this shirt. You'll have one more fan out there fighting for you." He capped his speech with a heartfelt "Hala Madrid," igniting cheers from those present.

Following the ceremony, Mastantuono spoke to the media alongside club legend Emilio Butragueno. He revealed details of his first conversation with head coach Xabi Alonso. "Xabi gave me a lot of confidence to chase my dreams," Mastantuono said.

He also shared his excitement about meeting teammates, particularly praising Jude Bellingham. "Jude welcomed me warmly. He's a player I admire and love watching. It was an incredible moment," he added.

When asked about his playing style, Mastantuono remained modest. "I don't like describing myself, let others do that. My focus is on helping the team however I can," he said. Surprisingly, he named Lionel Messi as a key influence, stating, "For me, Messi is the best in the world. I couldn't watch players like Alfredo Di Stefano, but I study them closely."

He also explained his choice of the number 30, saying, "I asked the president for it because it feels special to me."

Mastantuono is set to join training today, admitting he has been "anxious and excited" since arriving in Madrid. The young midfielder, who briefly showcased his skills in the white kit during a post-presentation kickabout at Valdebebas, insisted he is ready to contribute under Xabi Alonso's guidance.

Mastantuono posted on his own X account, writing, "A dream come true on my 18th birthday. Ready to give everything for this club. Thank you, Madridistas!"
