Former Australia bowler Shaun Tait resigns as Bangladesh coach

He had originally joined the Bangladesh setup in May 2025 on a deal scheduled to run until November 2027, taking over from former New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams.

During his tenure, Bangladesh's fast bowling group showed marked improvement and increasingly produced match-winning performances across formats.

One of the standout development stories was Nahid Rana, who made significant strides under Tait's guidance. Rana went on to claim a five-wicket haul against Pakistan in the opening ODI of their March series and later credited Tait for boosting his belief at international level.

"To be honest, he is an outstanding coach because he behaves with us not only as a coach but also as a friend," Rana had said about Tait.

"He always tells us to stick to our strengths. He says, 'You will play on the field, I will give you the plan, and you have to execute it and win the match.'"

A defining moment of Tait's spell came in Bangladesh's historic 2-0 Test series triumph over Pakistan, where the seam attack played a decisive role throughout the campaign.
