David Moyes confirms Everton bid for Bayern Munich's Adam Aznou, eyes six more signings

Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed the club has submitted an offer for Bayern Munich teenager Adam Aznou but insists that significant reinforcements are still needed before the transfer window closes.

The Toffees were beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth at the MetLife Stadium on Saturday, conceding all three goals in the second half after struggling without injured centre-backs James Tarkowski and Jarrod Branthwaite. The result, coming just a week after a 2-1 loss to Blackburn Rovers, has only strengthened Moyes' call for a major squad rebuild.

"We've signed three, so if you take that off, we're still in need of maybe five or six players," Moyes said post-match. "That's what we have to try and do. I've never had a situation like this. In the past, I've had to bring in a lot of players, but never this many in a single window."

Everton have already brought in goalkeeper Mark Travers, permanently signed midfielder Carlos Alcaraz following a loan spell, and landed French striker Thierno Barry for 27 million pounds. But the club has also seen five senior players depart - notably Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure - both of whom left as free agents after their contracts expired.

Despite recent efforts to retain key players - Branthwaite being among four squad members to sign new deals - Moyes admitted the depth and balance of the squad remain a concern.

"We're working really hard behind the scenes to get things done," he added. "But there's still a lot of work ahead."

Among Everton's active targets is 19-year-old left-back Adam Aznou, a Morocco international who began his youth career at Barcelona before joining Bayern Munich's academy. He spent the second half of last season on loan at La Liga side Real Valladolid and has made four senior appearances for Bayern.

Moyes confirmed an official bid has been submitted, but was careful to temper expectations.

"We have made an offer," Moyes said. "Whether it's accepted and whether it's all done - we'll have to see. But he's a young player - someone we believe has good potential and a good future."

With the Premier League season fast approaching, the pressure is mounting on Everton's recruitment team to deliver a stronger, more resilient squad - and quickly. Moyes' transfer wishlist, once deemed ambitious, now appears essential.
