Danny Jordaan places faith in three-man committee to steer Bafana through World Cup admin hurdles

South African Football Association (SAFA) President Danny Jordaan is confident that the three-member organizing committee they have put together will handle Bafana Bafana’s administrative affairs during the 2026 FIFA World Cup diligently.

Jordaan was speaking to the media at the OR Tambo International Airport on Monday, before Bafana boarded their chartered flight to Mexico, where they will wrap up their preparations for the World Cup, from their base camp in Pachuca.

Bafana’s departure had to be postponed yesterday, as half the team, including players, didn’t have visas.

Jordaan says NEC members Mxolisi Sibham and David Molantwa will work with head coach Hugo Broos and team manager Vincent Tseka to handle the administrative affairs.

"We said that Mr Sibham, the HOD, Molwantwa, Vincent Tseka and the coach, they will form a committee and they will make sure that everything runs according to the book,” Jordaan said.

“So, it's now the responsibility of not just one person but four people including the head coach.”

Sibham is also the Chairperson of the SAFA Finance Committee, and Molantwa, the Head of Delegation (HOD) for Bafana at this World Cup.

It took the intervention of the Department of International Relations and the US Consulate to assist the Bafana Bafana players and team support staff to get their Visas.

But the team still travelled without assistant coach Helman Mkhalele and head of security Mdu Mbatha, who are still waiting for their Visas to be issued.

"We don't want any problems, we don't want any difficulties, we don't want any misharps as we go into the final stage. So, I'm very happy that all of them have worked together, they've had many meetings. I had a meeting with them last night (Sunday night). I had a meeting with the coach and the captain Ronwen Williams yesterday and I'm happy, everything is sorted,” he added.

There were concerns that Bafana players would be demotivated by the events of the past few days, as they also missed some crucial training sessions, as they were trying to get their Visas.

But Jordaan says this team has been through a lot in the past and has been able to overcome even bigger challenges and expects them to rise above these challenges.
