Chiefs join Sundowns at TransferRoom Live summit in Rabat

TransferRoom Live organisers have confirmed that Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs will be among the clubs attending their high-profile summit in Rabat, Morocco, on Monday.

More than 120 influential decision-makers from clubs, agencies and academies are expected to gather on the sidelines of this month’s Africa Cup of Nations, with the aim of strengthening cross-border collaboration within the football industry.

While Sundowns are familiar faces at TransferRoom events — having attended at least two summits over the past two years — the Rabat meeting will mark Chiefs’ debut into the platform.

Amakhosi’s attendance underlines the club’s growing involvement in key global stakeholder engagements.

Last week, Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jnr and Marketing Director Jessica Motaung represented Chiefs at a FIFA summit attended by president Gianni Infantino, which preceded the organisation’s annual awards ceremony.

TransferRoom Live will take place on the same day Bafana Bafana open their AFCON campaign against Angola in Marrakesh, with business connections being forged in Rabat.

European giants Liverpool and Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca have also confirmed their attendance at the session, which has previously facilitated some of the most talked-about transfers in recent years.

Sundowns, for instance, secured the signings of Marcelo Allende and Tashreeq Matthews partly through relationships established at a TransferRoom event.

TransferRoom CEO and founder Jonas Ankersen highlighted the value of the summit for African clubs.

“TransferRoom Live offers attendees a unique opportunity to expand their network and engage in exclusive one-to-one meetings with clubs and agencies from around the world,” Ankersen said.

“By convening senior football executives during one of the continent’s most important tournaments, TransferRoom Live reinforces its commitment to collaboration, transparency and growth across African and global football markets.”

Also set to feature in Rabat is Young Africans SC president and Africa Club Association chairman Hersi Said, who will be part of a panel of prominent voices at the summit.
