Janevski, who began that journey alongside Broos before leaving for a coaching role in Cyprus, has continued to follow South Africa’s progress under his friend and former colleague.¨
Speaking on Metro FM’s Sports Night Amplified after Bafana sealed qualification for next year’s FIFA World Cup, Janevski praised Broos’ commitment and belief in the project.
"I know him very well from Belgium, and I can assure you that he is a very nice person. We've been friends for a long time, and I've followed his career as both a player and a coach, and he just knows how to silence his critics."
Janevski added that Broos’ resilience after narrowly missing out on the 2022 World Cup was remarkable, as he guided Bafana to consecutive AFCON qualifications and a semi-final finish at the previous edition.
¨The 64-year-old highlighted Broos’ patience as one of his greatest strengths, saying it helped him navigate the challenges that come with managing a national team in transition.
"Some people are quick to judge without knowing the quality. People judged Broos immediately because of his age, but age doesn't matter, as he has proven already."
Janevski concluded by saying Broos has reminded the football world that South Africa is far more than just a holiday destination.
