Cavin Johnson joins the chorus against poor PSL match officiating

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has raised his concerns with the questionable match officiating his team has been subjected to in recent matches.

This is after Chiefs were yet again reduced to 10 men during a four-goal thriller in which they were held to a 2-2 draw by TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership on Tuesday evening.

Amakhosi had Mozambican centre-back Edmilson Dove sent off after two bookable offences just before halftime, but Johnson says the questionable decisions against them are getting out of hand now.

"What a game of football. I thought, again we get a red card for reasons I have to look at, but in saying that, we again played three quarters of the game with 10 men and we learnt our lesson from last week [against Mamelodi Sundowns]," said Johnson.

"But a lot of challenges with the decisions made against us – many, many challenges. We will not talk about them, but just for you to know that we've had many, many challenges in the last few games that Chiefs have played.

"So, whether it's deliberate or not, but we've had many challenges like that."

Chiefs reserve goalkeeper Brandon Peterson was also sent off from the bench for dissent as referee Cedric Muvhali continued brandishing cards in last night’s game.

"It's very difficult sometimes to criticise someone afterwards – it's like a football match, we always criticise the coaches, assistant coaches, or medical team, or players, and that's easy to do," he added.

"I think what needs to be done is to show a lot more – like we show our players where they've gone wrong, and where they've gone right in the games, and improve on that; I think we need to take officiating to another level whereby we actually show and ask them to explain why.

"It's very difficult to understand, and it's very difficult to have the feeling, because he's also human, like us, and that's why I always say, you know guys, it's very difficult to criticise after the game – you can phone anybody, it stays 2-2, it will not change to 3-2 for Kaizer Chiefs."
